Morel mushrooms are growing well in the agricultural base of Qieji Village, Tanxi Town, and villagers are busy picking morel mushrooms.
“I purchased morel mushrooms online before, but now I can pick fresh morel mushrooms at the doorstep. My children also increase their knowledge while experiencing picking morel mushrooms,” said a customer from Jishou City. These fresh morel mushrooms attract many foodies in the surrounding areas to pick.
Morel mushroom is a rare edible mushroom variety that can be used as food and medicine. It has a unique aroma and high nutritional value with rich amino acids.
At the same time, morel mushroom contains polysaccharides that inhibit tumors, and active ingredients that are antibacterial and antiviral. It has many effects such as enhancing collective immunity, anti fatigue and tumor inhibition. It’s known as “meat among vegetables” and an “essential amino acid”.
“This year, we plant more than 10 mu (0.67 hectares) of morel mushrooms, with production capacity of about 100 kg per mu (0.067 hectares). The market price is 140 yuan per kg, and it’s expected to achieve a collective income of over 100,000 yuan in the village. In the first week, we received tourist groups and families experiencing picking, with a daily average of 100 people. Relying on morel mushroom picking, it has also driven the sales of other characteristic agricultural and sideline products like native eggs, cured meat and peppers, generating about 20,000 yuan in revenue,” said Xiang Yuanzhong, village secretary.
In recent years, Qieji Village has vigorously developed characteristic industries, with a development mechanism of Party branch plus cooperative plus base plus farmer plus industrial leader. Refrigeration and drying equipment have been added to form a whole industrial chain of morel mushroom that integrates production, supply, sales and services, leading villagers to develop the morel mushroom industry.
At the same time, with a rotation cultivation model, the base plants morel mushrooms in winter and spring, and raises fish in the fields in summer and autumn. From early planting and daily maintenance to later harvesting, drying and sales, a series of work is all done by villagers. This helps more than 30 villagers work near their homes, expands income channels for villagers, and injects endogenous development momentum into the growth of the village collective economy.
